According to Mark DuVerger, the pin does move on the cast arm

originally the heavy cast arm moves on the pin and the pin is locked into the sheet metal part or bracket.

There are no bushings on the original design.

Most of the time, the original pins freeze up to the arm and strip or wear out the brackets.
