First off, is the opening to your basement on a the gable end of the house, or on a side wall. In other words, is it in the wall that is supporting one end of the trusses?
If it's on the gable end of the house, the header will be supporting less load than if it's on a side wall.
As Tim said, use a micro-lam. If a 4x8 will give you the height you need then get a micro-lam that is at least 6x8 or 8x8.
An I beam would even be better.
