Some time ago you posted something about an American made come-along. Over the years I'd used a couple of different foreign built ones with mixed results. Pot metal teeth on the ratchet--cheap in general.
So, on impulse I bought one of the Wyeth-Scott More Power Pullers with Wire Cable. It was even heavier built than I thought I'd ever need and I hung on the wall of my basement as an over priced wall decoration.
Late this evening I almost flipped my tractor with an oversized load of firewood, split and stacked tight using forks on my loader. Uneven ground, backing, it tipped and stopped against the fence just shy of the point no return. Got the Wyeth out, using a double line pull, long chain tied to a tree and saved the load and my tractor. 'Paid for itself plus...
