You can do it by changing stock R&P gears to 4.89, 4.30, or 4.10, or changing diffs to modern sets to allow lower gearing, or changing to a 5 speed OD trans with a V8. You can get the 80 mph speeds, but it's not a truck I would want to do that in, it's narrow on the frame and sits high.
Go for reasonable speed, 4.89 gears and 4 cylinder diesel, at 60mph for 20+ mpg.
