This won't help much, but on vehicles I have owned, I found I didn't need additional highway speed. I instead focused on gearing lower for off road. On a '79 Toyota Hi-Lux pickup I had I switched from 4.375:1 gears to 5.70:1. On a Jeep CJ5 I switched from 3.31:1 gearing to 3.75:1 gears.
