My brother had a kidney stone about 10-15 years ago. He has been diligent ever since about drinking at least a half a gallon of water a day. He has had no recurrences.
My oldest son, though, did not learn this lesson from his uncle. He has had three episodes, each as much or more painful than the prior one. The last one needed having a stent placed inside. That finally got his attention!
