The parts you bought are used both for supporting and a clamping. I bought a set of these years ago. They were not a perfect match to my originals that were rusted to thin to be useful anymore. I do not see how anyone could make new ones closer to original without precision dies. The problem is that dies would have to be made from original examples and you will be hard pressed to find two originals exactly alike.
Each time I install a new header pipe, muffler, or tail pipe, I have to "reteach" the brackets into a new shape. I think that is why originals differ so much - each time an owner replaced an exhaust part the brackets probably got reconfigured.
