I have a glass pack that is maybe 5" diameter compared to the 3" exhaust and it makes a difference. It more mellows the turbo sound than anything else. I tore the exhaust off the band clamp on the turbo on a trail once and I thought it sounded a bit louder than normal but didn't stop until a friend said something big was hanging from the truck. The real noise is injection.
