Good suggestion Vaughn. Personally, I've tried to use my jack stands as backups for the hydraulic jack when convenient--which is most of the time. Jack just enough to slide the stand in place and then ease down just a tad to make it firm.

If both fail while I'm under there, I guess there are worse ways to go...
