My'46 WDX has split ring wheels with 900 16 STA Super Lug. The only tire I ever liked for these trucks was made by Goodyear and has been obsolete in that size for years. I have a set of STA Super Lug and I would describe them as less than satisfactory, particularly in snow and ice. And I did have them siped.
I am totally in favor of keeping things as original as possible, but now that I am 78, I would appreciate a one piece rim with a radial tire on the rare occasion I have to change one.
