Same thing happened to me. Threw the intermediate shaft going down the highway in 1962 W100 Town Wagon. Had the wrong u joints installed. The saddle clamps fit but not well enough. The u joint cross had some play. That play was enough to wreak havoc. There were some u joints with improperly sized snap rings also. Got the proper joints fitted and no more troubles.
