The knuckle screws or bolts are Grade 5 so they are not the strongest. If it were me, I would consider upgrading to Grade 8 or 9 screws/lock washers, you'll have to cut the screws to length and cut threads to match the shoulder of the stock bolt, so you'll have to buy bolts with a shoulder longer than the stock bolt.

The IMPORTANT thing is to have clean and dry threads in the knuckles and on the screws when assembling. The Army TM's say to use oil on head bolts, so that is considered in the torque specs., but they do not say to apply oil on your knuckle screws, if you do, my experience has been, they will work loose from the stress of turning and tire rotation.

If they still work loose after upgrading screws, then I would consider applying Permatex High strength threadlocker or going to 9/16 screws Grade 8 or 9.
