Do not mix tube and tire types. As stated using a bias tube in a radial tire will cause a lot of flex generated heat. A trailer I bought new had a tube in one tire which I did not know about. The result was a sidewall blowout that laid open about 1/3 of it. It happened on a warm day in the Central Valley of California.

The flaps are also different. If I remember correctly the radial ones are more feathered along the edges which would make sense with the flexing that radials do.

I use tubes with a centered metal stem that is bent 90 degrees. I have had several rubber valve stems fail. Be sure that you use a flap designed to work with a centered stem. If you use a flap with an offset stem hole then the metal stem will stick out beyond the rim which you do not want.

Universal Vintage Tire sells both tubes and flaps with the centered hole and bent metal stem. Google Universal Tire and their site will come up.
