If the lobe looks good, minimal wear, then it's an issue with the arm on the pump not being long enough or angled properly to fully engage the lobe. You could try a different brand of pump or get a pump for an M37 which would be my choice, due to the arm pin having a head on one side and a clip on the other to prevent the pin from working out which is typical of the pumps made today. An in-line pressure regulator is a good way to go to control the pressure.
