My 230 which I had in my 1/2 ton WC was always serviced with Pennzoil 10-40 from the time of rebuild in 1987 until I replaced it with an IND-7(237) in 2016. It had a rear main and front seal leak, but it never burned oil. Always ran like a top. Now I will say I probably didn’t put more than 25-30,000 miles on it in that time. I put Valvoline VR-1 30wt racing oil in the IND-7. It has a generous amount of Zinc in it so I am told. Maybe overkill, but better safe than sorry.
