Carter mechanical fuel pump

Decided to go a different route with the mechanical fuel pump. Found a Carter online. I did not realize the pump arm was so big. Before install I thought I would seek professional advice from the experts. My worry is the arm is too large and possibly not work as desired or will break off then I will have an even bigger problem. Thoughts?
