I managed to replace the fan belt on my 1956 flat fender, but it was a bit of a struggle to find the correct belt, so as a public service here is what I found:
Gates makes the 0.66 in belts we need, but it's a devil of a time finding them. They are sold by Gates as "Truck or Bus" "Green Stripe". The size depends on your particular pulleys and balancer, these are the two that should fit:
TR24476 - 47.63 inch effective length (too small for me, but others say it works for them)
TR24489 - 48.82 inch effective length (fit correctly)
You will note that the last 3 digits of the product code are the "effective length" of the belt, TR is "truck" and 24 is the width in some unknown measurment system. So, the TR24465 is the next smaller belt to the above, and the TR24500 is the next size bigger. Here is the very hard to find link to the product page.
