Cowl lacing install

Checking off another item on the to-do list. Ordered a new lacing kit from VPW. He has both nails and rivet type fasteners. Which ones go where? On the cab I pulled out the old nails, so the nails are for the cab and rivets are for the radiator cowl? Any special techniques or tricks to make it easier?
Thanks guys! We have the running boards left to install and then I think I can post a complete picture ha
