If the oil pump is timed correctly with the cam and #1 piston at TDC, the distributor's rotor is to be timed at 7 o'clock when looking at the rotor and cap for #1 wire. Even if oil pump and cam are off a tooth, dist. is still timed at the 7 position. Vacuum and oil spout play no part in timing.
