I have been holding back out of manners on this "dealer" of vintage Dodges, but I guess I can let this out.
I bought a truck from him over the Internet, as his location is halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and the price of a round trip and rental car was out of the question. I trusted that as a "dealer" (California law is any person that sells more than 6 vehicles a year be a licensed dealer) he would be straight forward in answering questions I had about the truck.
I asked him if the frame was straight, and untouched. His reply was yes. It was spliced, bowed and re enforced beyond repair.
I asked him if the body was straight. His reply was yes. It looked like somebody dropped a load of pea gravel on it, resulting pock mark dents that were indistinguishable by photos. Many of the other parts had been "shaved" by a cutting torch to make the truck lighter?
To add, the delivery driver left in the morning for a 7 1/2 hour drive to my delivery point, but arrived after midnight in a residential area, dropped it and ran off in the dark, where I could not perform an inspection before trailer removal and refuse this lying bastards POS.
End result is I now have a pretty good supply of undercarriage and a cab to either sell off, or use on another truck.
So much for an honest "dealer", and it was my mistake for doing business with him.
BTW, do an Internet search on him, very interesting past.
