Honestly, I had both systems on two different trucks. My 1953 B4 with 6v system and now my 1966 WM300 with 12v system. When I first got either truck, I had to rebuild the generator/alternator and replace voltage regulators. There were some wiring issues as well on both trucks. But after all that, the trucks both always started with either system.
If anything, I've had more problems with bad gas in the tanks or a bunch of sediment in the tanks which lead to reliability problems, like clogged fuel filters, dead fuel pumps.
