Joe, the trip to NZ was my second, the first was around 2005 when my son raced in Rotorua for the USA for the World Cup in downhill bikes.
This trip with Charlotte my wife covered both the North and the South Islands and was last minute and triggered by a 24 hour internet flash sale by Air New Zealand that made it affordable.
The South Island was so beautiful and what a delight to travel back in time with no freeways, very few people and it felt like California during the late 50’s early 60’s
The Kiwis are really great people who make you feel right at home and they really enjoy being outdoors and take a lot of pride in their country.
The sand flies didn’t bother us, maybe we eat to many onions!
We are still waiting on the State parks to open and see what the verdict will be concerning the Rally, we will post when we find out.
