Since the truck manufacturers couldn't all stick to having the differential on the same side, winch manufacturers had to build for different locations. The W200 and W300 trucks also have the gear housing on the passenger side.
As Greg said, the MU2 is unique in it's mounting surfaces on the supports. They also made winches that were specific for rear mount applications.
Be aware that there were several different reproductions that were made in China that are very close. I think one was Rhino?
