There were 3 crossmembers that were bolted to the frame. They were "C" channels. There were two "Hat" channels that were not bolted to the frame. None of the factory beds that I have ever seen were welded to the frame. Then there was a rear "valence at the extreme end of the bed where the tailgate attaches.
The three "C" channels had canvas fiber spacers between the bottom edge and the top frame rail. The two "Hat" channels had a round rubber pad with a protruding "Nub" that fit into the the hole in bottom of the "U" shaped mounting bracket on the bottom of the "hat" channel.
