The peoblem with most modern tires is that they are too wide for the 6 1/2 inch PW rims. The Michelin 11.00 X 16 XL are designed for a 6 1/2 rim and they are 39" tall. A good solution. I have had 315X75X16 tires mounted on my rims. Did not like them too much, They ended up being shorter than the 9.00X16 tires I already had on. They dismounted the tire and I drove away. You really need a tire that has an aspect ratio of 85 rather than 75. If there was a 315 85 16 tire, I suspect that it would be a good fit. I am actually looking for a set of highway tred tires to run on my carryall. I would like to travel to Utah and a few other places to 4 wheel and I do not wan to run the MICHELINS XL that distance. I may end up getting a set of 11.00 X16 Michelins recapped with a highway tread. I am not real fond of recaps thoug. I would have Bandag do the.
