Agreed... I do belive this forum is a group of friends. That's why when I go to sell a truck or gear, I post it here first, to support Joe in all his efforts. I've been told that you have to distance yourself from the forum if you want to do business on the forum and not be so chumy with the people here. Sorry, That's not my style.
Theres been quite a bit of backlash over the prices PW's are fetching now. And it's hard (for me) to put a monetary value on them. I go by the Randy Baker method of value. I guess when I post a rig for sale I consider the price to be a "Buy it now" price. I used to expect to barter in good faith on it, knowing what I need to get out of it to make it worthwile to sell. But I dont want to keep a bunch of rigs at my house that could be doing someone else and the rig some good. (Although, it's easier now that my wife now calls it the Smith collection rather than what she used to call it!)
Some people may be afraid to barter because they dont want to offend.
Hey, I was wading through rotten food, human urine and feces last night to remove a diabetic from his home and get him to the hospital (aahhh..., the glamorous life of a Fireman! Closest I ever came to losing my cookies at work!), belive me, you are not going to offend.
I'm begining to think it would just be better to put stuff on E-bay and let the buyers set the price amongst themselves. I dont know, as I've never sold anything on e-bay, and the only thing I've bought cost $9 and took 2 months to get here. It's a dilemma, I like finding rigs and getting them out to fellas, but I wade through enough crap at work, I dont want to do it here also.
