I have done well with a lighter truck, the diesel engine sounds quite heavy. My M135 duece weighs 12000 gvw, where as a duece or 5 ton wreaker weighs 30,000 gvw. A well balanced light truck does better, as you have to get into almost the same situation as the dude you are trying to recover. Floatation tires on my M37 have been a big help in going places that the weak in heart dare not go. Unimog's I believe have a winch mounted mid-frame. Tom
