46 wdx engine color

Can anyone tell me the original 230 engine color on a 47 WDX? Seems to me it's red, but mine is silver & it looks original?
Qestion 2....my ID plate inside the door jam is gone, but the vin # on the frame matches the title...is there anyone making these plates or is this a dumb question?
There's a tag maker in Canada that can make one but it's very expensive for just one. I'm hoping someones already doing them.
