My W500 had a very effective power assist steering.
My W300 also has the same system. I have a PTO winch and an 8' Meyer commercial plow on the W300. The steering works great.
When that system started to decline in popularity is when they started using smaller hydraulic rams. Fords in the 70s had a very poor version of this system.
