Sorry I misunderstood. You can remove the std. starter switch mounted on these starters and use a push button on the dash, I have that setup on my truck. You can try rotating the unit 180 and see if the bolt holes line up with the bell housing, if they do, it's fine to use the starter that way. If they don't, look for a used starter. You can't successfully use a 12v on a 6v system, spins to slow, you would need to convert the electrical system to 12v, or create a 12v starting system with 6v for everything else.
