I was curious because I use a lot of stainless bolts on my trucks, as well as on the aluminum docks, and lifts, that we use on the lake. I had been using stainless hex bolts, with Nylock nuts. This combination worked fine for a couple years, but then seized up to the point where I couldn't remove them with an impact wrench. I usually just use a ratchet and wrench to assemble/disassemble, so not a lot of speed on the nut. But the nuts feel like they are welded on, so I've had to use a cut-off wheel to remove them.

The docks themselves com with stainless bots, with some kind of brass colored nuts Not sure what they are made of, but they are too hard to be solid brass), and I suspect the reason is that the different materials prevent galling.

I started using a Permatex stainless anti-seize, but its more expensive than the regular anti-seize. I guess anything is better than nothing, and at least for the bolts in the water, I'll have to apply the anti-seize every year.
