Generator pulley removal

Is there a trick to removing the pulley from a 6v generator to put on a 12v one? It has the fan blades behind it and I'm trying not to crush them. The rotor is out of the case. The front nut has been cut off. I have tried the candle method, acetone/atf mixture, more heat and mild force. No luck!
