Not the early vs late 2nd series. I've seen a handful of the early gauge 1951s and at least one had a first series bed on it. I believe the bed change from 1st to 2nd series happened around the same time as The Hague change. It might not have. It is a hard detail to nail down through actual trucks at this late date.

I've never determined the exact switch between the early 2nd series (early wood, early rear cross member, early center hinge, no dimples on the sides) vs late 2nd series. I've always assumed 1953 when the fenders changed on the 2wds, but all those details might have changed slowly over time. I don't see enough unrestored trucks with original beds so it is hard to figure out.
