Well, I THIOUGHT it was the original gauge but now you guys have me thinking. . . this truck was used as a fire fighting brush truck for 40 years. They replaceed the original tank with a fabricated custom heavy steel tank for protection from trees and stumps. When I got it I cleaned out the tank and remounted it. The gauge worked for a while.
Am I correct that there is some type of rheostat in the sending unit that limits the voltage that goes to ground, and that variable voltage is what changes the indicator in the fuel gauge?
