Dump that “POS” cork seal and retainer and install a National 32x42x7 metric seal on the steering gear shaft of your 1/2 ton WC. That should stop the leak out the shaft. Now, the large cork gasket that is between the housing bracket assembly and the the steering gear housing might be bad and that can also cause a leak. Use your 916083 wheel bearing nut wrench as an outer template to make the new cork gasket. Use a light coat of Permatex when putting the 2 parts of the steering gear back together. Should have no leaks no matter what heavy gear oil you wanting to put in it. I did this 3 years ago on mine and have not had a drop of 90wt leak out the steering gear.
