I use a product called Preserva Wood on my Cedar Fence to preserve the wood. It's oil base, soaks in deep and dries to a non-tacky surface after a few day. Excess sealer will wash off with rain after several seasons, however the wood is still sealed. Nice thing about it, you just paint on additional sealer, no stripping required, so maintenance is real easy and would work well on a wood bed that gets used. Wait about two weeks before sealing so the bed wood will get good and dry and apply up to three times, the wood will soak it in. I used the product Summit Cedar, has pigments so it helps repair faded areas from sprinkler water if wood has not been treated or sealed.

I just used a power washer on the fence and resealed it this past Sunday. Fence is about 9 years old. There is three images, click right and use slideshow.
