if your truck uses the mechanical foot pedal to start the truck, make sure the starter drive gear is not stuck in the flywheel teeth. This would cause the starter to continually try to start the engine because the foot pedal switch would remain in the on position,
Use your hand to move the starter lever full stroke in and out. If it’s stuck, try loosening the starter mount bolts and try moving the lever back and forth by hand again. You can do all of this with the battery disconnected for safety.
Just make sure that when you quit stomping on the foot pedal, that the starter full disengages both electrically and mechanically.
