It sounds as though the system is clean. I would switch out the pump. If the pump doesn't have a good angle on the lever, the pump can vapor lock and that could be what is happening after driving it., I had that problem with a jeep If the temp tank was higher than the pump, gravity can pressure the pump indicating that it works well. Replace the pump before dealing with the tank.
