My first WC had it bad. My grandpa made a shield for the line to the carb out of a piece of garden hose.
Worst I ever saw was an MG convertible- my ride home from work before I got my license. There was an 1,800’ climb in the first 6 miles. We’d have to stop and let it cool three or four times. Owner was a pretty neighbor lady so I didn’t mind the trip taking longer.
