They work good for industrial finishes on metal (or wood,plastic,etc) & are great for priming a car. I just don't know how they'd work spraying automotive finishes/clear. The needles/tips they come with just don't seem to be precise enough. The way they break up the paint is kind of "crude" in my opinion. I would try to find a used one to play around with before investing in one. Trouble is the used ones never work as good as new.
