I believe that thermostat housing was first used in mid 51. My 51 is early enough that it was produced before they switched over from the external bypass, so it has the older style. The '52 I am helping to sell in the photo ads has that housing that Vaughn shows and is also pictured in the link to photos I have in the ad.
