This was a truck I owned for a while. Before me it was in the family and the family member had swapped out the wheels and tires sometime in the early 1960's. They were 20" wheels.
They guy I finally bought it from had some old Ford trucks. He told me that the wheels were off of a late Ford model AA. He also told me that they were late because they were wide, as the earlier AA models had much narrower wheels.
The rings were one-piece. The tires shown in the image were 8.25 x 20.
Changing from 5.83 gearing to 4.89 gives your about a 20% increase in speed at any given rpm. These tires and wheels gave about a 10% increase.
