1/2 ton 4.89s in 3/4 carrier

My wc56 has the 8 3/4 rears in it.I need 4.89s and I know you have said that they are weaker but could put 1/2 ton 4.89 ring and pinions in my 8 3/4 carriers.No off road use just cruising..I would stick with the 900x16s if that were the case...Thanks Jim
