I believe it was Mike from MO who suggested I contact Novak so I did. I spoke with one of the tech staff about shafts. They make the Dana 18/20 TC idler shafts for jeeps. I asked what steel they make them from. They use 8620, RC62. I asked if they can make custom shafts and the tech replied yes, but they are 3-4 months behind in their machine shop, the link below has info, click to the right. So if you don't have someone in your area, give them a call. I got new needle rollers with round ends from dc, thanks dc!, and 12 inches of 8620 to make two shafts. Now it's off to the machine shop.
