Had mine done in 2014. Had factory second since birth. They had me do rehab stuff, I was a good boy and did it. By the end of the first year I was to the point of not noticing it very much. By the end of the second I've forgotten I'd ever had a hip problem to begin with! So hang in there, it'll probably turn out really well, faster than you think.
Buddy of mine is tied pretty closely to the medical profession. When I had my hip done, he gave me a stainless ball from an artificial hip joint as a souvenir.
On my next hip checkup the Dr. asked me how I was doing? Am I getting used to the new hip etc. I said "You know, a while ago it started really itching like mad! I didn't know what was going on. I was scratching and then THIS came through my skin!" And handed him the hip joint ball.
The poor guy nearly passed out! "What?!" It was hard not to laugh, but I actually felt bad shocking him so much. I'd figured it would be obvious that there was no way I could possibly walk into the office if something like that had happened. I guess he just wasn't ready for that.
