I worked my 6.4 pretty hard. It towed a trailer nearly every day. I had the oil and filters changed regularly.

I am not upset at all that it needs some work. The part I hate is that no one seems to be confident in rebuilding any of it. I am looking to head backwards to things that don't require taking the cab off to replace the heads. Something that I don't have to tear a bunch of stuff off to make it run right.

My 6.4 got 11 mpg when I bought it. After $4k in aftermarket stuff it gets 18 to 20 empty and 16 towing and went 200k with no major issues. The problem with the modern stuff is that you have to go to the shop every time there is a problem. Dropping $2k at a time.

Of course, I changed spark plugs in a 1500 dodge Hemi and that was frustrating too.......
