I don't have experience with the ones you are looking at but I own a Toro commercial, not a Lowe's model. I bought it in 2004 and I grease it yearly or so and change the oil. Last year I had to replace an idler pulley on the deck ($20) and I don't remember the cost but several years ago a mouse nested in the engine and ate through a spark plug wire. In the fall I use it with a commercial tow behind leaf sucker that is really too heavy bit it does it. I know people with several other newer machines that have all had pumps or motors on the hydraulic system replaced or had deck spindle failures. This includes commercial models not just Lowe's. I am probably jinxing myself by saying this and I am sure a lot has changed in the market but I would buy another Toro. Of course I never will because these are really simple machines and I will probably fix whatever breaks indefinitely. Power wagon of mowers!!
