Paul, have you got the V10 bug? I can tell you from personal experience these are great trucks. I still have my second V10 [97] with high [160,000] miles and it runs/pulls great. No trans problems ever except a sticky shift solenoid, and that's cured by removing the relay under the hood to allow the computer to reset. It's happened twice in 4 years. I have pulled my Power wagons at 65-70 mph on flat ground with no hesitation. These engines are a lot like the old 454, they have tremendous torque at low rpm. I have made a point never to over rev the motor, why would you when the truck runs 80+ mph at 2300rpm. Mileage is an issue I guess, but it's relative, we had several Ford 1/2 tons that got similar with 1/4 the power. If you can find one buy it.
