Sorry, but I'm talking oxy-acetylene torches here. Need to make the metal soft. Not paint friendly.
I used a weldable zinc coating I bought from Eastwoods. Soaked a rag and pulled it through on a string; repeated as necessary to achieve coverage. (hi tech - used nylon string <grin>)
FWIW, I used an 8x8 x 10' beam to straighten mine. Used washers and bolts and "dialed" it into place. Fun in its own way.
