I've got multiple isues to deal with in "straightening" up the bed rails and all the suggestions are Great! Believe me... Mike Stone has nothing to worry about on this one :) There's plenty of character to go around! I'll be paying a visit to the local steel supply shop soon as they re-open after the holidays to see what is available to craft a mandrel (seams better than driving a steel pipe through the rail which is the direction I was headed), and the wood "forms" will probably do the trick in the center where a few heavy (wider than the bed) objects have been noticeably placed on the rails. I will admit I'm not much of a wood-worker, so it will be 2X4s & 4X4s. When everyone references "heat" the rails with a torch ? is there a magic temp range above ambient or are you suggesting scorch-the-paint red-hot? Lastly, how do you protect the inside of the rails from further rusting after heating? Thanks!
